colours, forms and textures are the inspiration of Textile Artist
Judith Reece. She is fascinated by the ever changing light and its
effect on the colours of the sea and moorland.
I love the tactile nature of working with fabrics and hand
made papers. My images have been described as atmospheric and enigmatic,
as I aim to represent colour and texture in an abstract way, yet
the end results usually hint at a recognisable form. I hand dye
all my fabrics before layering and stitching them with metallic
threads. I then cut, tear or burn them back to reveal what lies
beneath, to allow subtle shading to emerge.
